Our People are a Global Success

Our vision is; every young person should have the chance to succeed. Placing taiohi at the centre of our mahi and on the world stage

Tyson Nemukula – Global Young Achiever Winner

For the first time ever a young entrepreneur from The King’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand has won one of the Trust’s top international awards.

Tyson is a talented self-taught musician and producer who runs his own music production company, InDuna. His success comes after years of fighting against the odds, defying the demons of a childhood scarred by hardship.

In 2024, Tyson was named The Prince’s Trust Global Young Achiever. The Enterprise programme, run by The King’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand, provided Tyson with the knowledge, mentoring, networking and financial support to grow his fledgeling business.

Tyson will be presented his award at 20th anniversary of The Prince’s Trust Awards in London in May this year. Read more of his story here.

Prince's Trust Young Entrepreneur to attend Coronation

Tasmyn Roach (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Raukawa, Waikato) and Andrew Williams will represent The Prince’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand at the Coronation of our President, His Majesty King Charles III.

Tasmyn is the young entrepreneur behind Awhi Company – a business that creates Māori designed baby blankets to ensure babies are wrapped in their culture from birth.

The young mother (became a māmā to her first son Kahika last year) completed The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Workshop in 2022 and was one of the first to be funded from The Prince’s Trust He Kākano Seed Fund.

Tasmyn used the funding to scale her business and expand into products for the home. She was raised in Ōtorohanga, in the King Country and now lives in Tauranga.

Andrew Williams is the founding Trustee and Chairperson of The Trust in New Zealand.

Tasmyn Roach wasn’t raised with Māoritanga (Māori cultural practices and beliefs) and says she’s faced many challenges in starting a business “in this space.”

The Prince's Trust Global Gala

THURSDAY | APRIL 27th, 2023 | NEW YORK

BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

The inaugural Prince’s Trust Global Gala in April 2022 was chaired by Global Ambassador and Chairman of the Global Ambassador Board, Lionel Richie and Edward Enninful OBE, Global Ambassador and Editor of British Vogue. Their support helped attract some of the influential names in fashion and entertainment, resulting in global media attention and social engagement.

The event brought together our young people, supporters, Patrons and friends to celebrate the work of The Prince’s Trust. The funds have now been distributed to The Prince’s Trust charities around the world – including supporting our ‘Enterprise’ work in Australia, Canada, Greece, India, Jamaica, Jordan, New Zealand, Pakistan, Rwanda & UK.

Funds have also been allocated to explore support for young people in the United States. We are thrilled that both Lionel Richie and Edward Enninful will both co-chair the Gala again in 2023.

EVERY YOUNG PERSON SHOULD HAVE THE CHANCE TO SUCCEED

The Prince’s Trust was founded in the UK in 1976 with the vision that every young person should have the chance to succeed, by being given the appropriate tools.

That vision remains unchanged today. Our programs support young people and underserved communities on their journey from education to employment, empowering them to build their own futures.

The Trust also delivers employability and enterprise programs for military veterans and indigenous groups. Together, our mission is to transform lives and build sustainable communities worldwide. To date, we have supported over 1 million young people around the globe.
