About Us

The King’s Trust is committed to transforming lives and building sustainable communities by enabling young people to complete their journey from education to employment.

We are pleased to have officially become The King’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand. This reflects the dedication of our Founder, His Majesty The King, and his continued passion for our work.

As we make this change, we will continue to support young people to gain the confidence and skills, as part of our Enterprise programme, and move into work, education and training. Founded by His Majesty the King in 1976, The King’s Trust (formally The Prince's Trust) helps young people across the globe respond to the rapidly changing global economy, so they can thrive in the world.

Our Values

ME KA MOEMOEĀ AU, KO AU ANAKE;
IF I WERE TO DREAM ALONE,
ONLY I WOULD BENEFIT.
ME KA MOEMOEĀ TĀTOU, KA TAEA E TĀTOU,
IF WE WERE TO DREAM TOGETHER,
WE COULD ACHIEVE ANYTHING.

The King’s Trust was founded in the UK by His Majesty the King in 1976 (when he was HRH The Prince of Wales) with the vision that every young person should have the chance to succeed. That vision remains unchanged today.

The 45th Anniversary of The King’s Trust also marked another milestone – more than one-million young people around the globe have been supported by the Trust.

Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, unemployment, particularly for young people and under-served communities, was an urgent global challenge. Now, the situation is critical. Our programmes support young people and communities on their journey from education to employment, empowering them to build their own futures.

Globally, the Trust also delivers employability and enterprise programmes for military veterans and indigenous groups.

Together, our mission is to transform lives and build sustainable communities worldwide.
